Want to get the most out of your first encounter with Yoga at our Hawthorn Rebel Monk studio?
We have a few recommendations to increase your enjoyment:
THE #UFYL INTRODUCTORY MEMBERSHIP
At just $60 for your first full month of unlimited access to our 44 regular classes each week, our #UFYL Introductory Membership is an amazing way to explore our different Five Elements Yoga classes and teachers to find what works best for you. And while you’re doing that, we’ll tell you how to save another $20 each month on our best-value no-ties monthly membership that’s not available anywhere else!
THE REBEL MONK APP
Download our Rebel Monk app (for iPhone and Android, see links in footer below) and use it to book in for your first class. We recommend that you begin with our Yoga 101 class if it’s your first time doing Yoga, or Water Flow or Space Out if a Wednesday evening doesn’t suit you. Try a few of those and chat with our teachers to find out more about the other classes before you try them too. (If you prefer to book your classes on your computer, you can do so by clicking this link.)
Before any Yoga class, it’s best not to eat anything for 2-3 hours. Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move in, the kind of clothes you would wear for exercising.
GET TO KNOW THE SPACE
On your first visit, come along at least 20 minutes before class to make sure that you have plenty of time to find us, check in, and explore the changing rooms, studio and other facilities. Please leave your shoes and any mobile devices in the changing room locker or storage cubes, as they are not permitted in class. You need to be checked in at least 2 minutes before the class start time, and there’s no entry after the teacher closes the door to begin.
PICK A GOOD SPOT
Make your way into the studio early so that you can pick a good mat space at the back of the room. This can help you feel less self-conscious if yours new to yoga, and means you can watch other more experienced students in front for guidance during class. (If you’re not really that new to yoga then please head up to take it in much better at the front).
TAKE IT EASY
Don’t push too hard–it won’t do you any good and could lead to injury. If anything doesn’t feel right at any time, just stop.
YOGA CLASS ETIQUETTE
Please don’t talk during class, except to communicate with the teacher if necessary. And unless it’s an emergency, don’t leave the class early, especially during the last ten minutes of class when doing so can spoil the relaxation experience for others.
TALK WITH US
We really depend on your honest feedback, so if you have any questions or comments (or even complaints), please speak to your teacher or the manager about it. And if you’ve got questions after you’ve left then simply check out our evolving Frequently Asked Questions and even send us an email if it’s not answered there.
FUEL UP ON THE WAY OUT
On the way in we have three types of complimentary water on tap (cold, ambient and sparkling). And if you come during business hours, after your class our Timber and Greens cafe has a full selection of delicious food and beverages to help you replenish your reserves.
